Construction and operation of buildings currently account for almost half of all greenhouse gases. SöKA Studio believes it is the responsibility of all building professionals today to be conscious of designing with the future of the planet in mind.
Not only is sustainable design good for the planet, it’s good for the building owner and user. Lifecycle costs will go down and toxic off-gassing will make for a safer interior environment. The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has implemented a rating system called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). It was initiated as a means of helping building owners and professionals achieve a given level of sustainability in their building designs.
While LEED is one way to achieve an ecologically friendly building, there are many ways to “go green” without utilizing the LEED rating process. SöKA Studio is happy to discuss sustainable design options with our clients and will work closely with you to achieve your green goals.
