SöKA Studio recently finished the design and renovation of this one bedroom condominium in Brookline, MA. Opening up the previously enclosed stair to the roof was transformative in bringing light to the space from above and creating an open floor plan.
The new, open-concept kitchen/dining area used to look like this:
The original wood burning fireplace and much of the existing 1920’s woodwork was maintained and updated. The result is an airy, contemporary space with the warmth and character of an older home:

A fully renovated bathroom with clean finishes brought a modern touch to the home:
The rooftop head house was re-built and improved with skylights, siding, and a new door to the re-built roof deck, creating an idyllic urban patio:
Something tells me it’s time for cocktails on the deck….
